Do I need to exchange money before my tour?

We recommend bringing enough local currency for at least the first three days of your tour. This will help cover any initial expenses, like optional excursions* and meals not included in your tour, especially since there may not be an opportunity to exchange money straight away.

We suggest not carrying large amounts of cash with you, though. Most of our accommodations are conveniently located near cash machines, where you can easily withdraw money using your debit or credit card. Withdrawing from a local ATM is usually the best way to get a favourable exchange rate, compared to exchange shops or kiosks. When you arrive in a country with a new currency, your tour leader will be happy to help guide you on where to find an ATM. Just make sure to let your bank know you're travelling abroad so you can avoid any issues accessing your funds.

*Some of our tours also accept card payments for optional excursions, so be sure to check under "Optional Excursions" on the Help Centre to see if this payment option is available for your specific tour.
